Dog Kennels Galway
While Galway and indeed the West of Ireland is blessed with excellent kennels and kennelling services, we at Trusty Pet Pals believe that kennelling is not for every dog, and we have come up with a safe, fun, stress free, cost effective alternative to kennelling which we call ‘Doggie Camp’ (Please see the ‘Doggie Camp’ Tab for full details).
We now also offer DOG BOARDING, please see our dog boarding tab or contact us for details.
Years ago, dogs were muts, thrown out the back in the rain, fed scraps and lucky to have an outdoor kennel. In recent years that has all changed. Nowadays our dogs are more than just pets, they are integrated into the family, they usually live in the home and in many cases they have filled in for lost love ones, kept us company and been a friend when friends were scarce. Nowadays we read and research dog nutrition and psychcology. Many dogs sleep in our bedrooms or even at the end of the bed, we wash and clean them (and in some cases with them, no comment please) and have all sorts of quirks and routines which builds and maintains that special relationship with our best friends.
In certain cases when a dog is kennelled, it can be stressful for them. They are taken away from their home and family for days or weeks at a time. They are out of their routines, their bed and now reside in a cage instead of their warm cosy bed. Often we hear people comment that when their dog came back from the kennel, ‘they were strange’, or ‘they were off their food’ or ‘they started peeing indoors after years of being house trained’. This can be a common occurance and is caused by the disruption and stress of being taken from their familiar environment for an extended period of time. In extreme cases a dog can even have abandonment issues after being kennelled, especially if the dog is a rescue dog and had been abandoned in their past.
At ‘Doggie Camp’, your dog will sleep in their own bed, in their own home, with familiar smells and surroundings wrecked tired after an action packed day at ‘Doggie Day Care’.
Please see the ‘Doggie Camp’ tab for more details.
