Meet our Dog Trainer

Often when we speak to people about training, we would  get a response like, “sure my dog doesn’t need training, haven’t I house trainined him and taught him how to sit”. THIS IS NOT DOG TRAINING !! Make no mistake - EVERY DOG NEEDS TRAINING !!! If you think about it, the average life span of a dog is 12 years. You are going to invest your time, your money and yourself into this being who is going to be your companion for a dozen years. Training could make the difference between an easy and social 12 years as opposed to a very difficult 12 years.

A few main points of training are: Stay – so if your dog every runs across the road, if you command him to stay, he will plant his bum on the ground and will not move until you tell him to. Think if the dog ran across the road and a car was coming and he got knocked down, or worse, think if the car swerved to avoid him…. If you have a dog who pulls on the lead, without training, you will spend the next 12 years having your arm pulled out of it’s socket. And of course, the recall (which tends to be the hardest command to master) – Say your out on the beech and you see a dog in the distance and your dog runs off to play with it and you have a feeling the dog may be vicious… The recall can be the hardest command to master and without training, your dog could be heading into unecessary difficulty. Training is an essential part of your dogs development. It makes him more social around people and other dogs and will definitely benefit you and him and make your life a whole lot better together.
